In times of societal change, different ongoing conflicts, and economic troubles - academic freedom seems to be at risk. However Academic Freedom is an essential part of a well-working democracy and is closely linked to freedom of speech and the right to a peaceful assembly.

The goal for this weeks International Seminar is to define academic freedom, as well as describing what`s threatening its existence in our western democracies today.

SAIH/ the Norwegian Students and Academics International Assitants Fund invites to a diologue about Academic Freedom and what it entails.

  • What is challenging academic freedom today? 
  • Why is academic freedom relevant for democratic countries like Norway?
  • Is there a need to challenge the status-quo of western academic teachings?
